  • Free Water-Neutral Landscaping Tour
    1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

    Free Water-Neutral Landscaping Tour | $
    1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Come take a tour of this lovely rural Aptos property and learn about “water neutral” landscaping. Water neutral gardens thrive without the use of any municipal or well water. Homeowners Terry and Wendy co-created their landscape with Love’s Gardens. The goals of the project were to reduce their environmental footprint, save money, utilize all possible sustainable sources of water, reduce the impact on the septic system, and express self-sufficiency.

Many simple strategies for creating a water neutral garden are beautifully demonstrated in this yard. For instance, the use of mostly native and drought tolerant plants reduces water needs. In order to fulfill Terry and Wendy’s main interest of reducing their environmental footprint as much as possible, Love’s Gardens designed and installed systems to harvest the abundance of rainwater and greywater available for their garden. Additionally, drip system and faucets were converted to rainwater. These combined technologies enable Terry and Wendy’s landscape to approach water neutral.

    Planned Activities

We will be leading intermittent tours throughout the event, or you can take a self-guided tour. You can see the various aspects of the project and learn how the project was co-created, using Wendy’s knowledge of native plants, Terry’s resourcefulness around creating a sustainable paradise, and Love’s Gardens’ professional expertise and experience. The home owners and Love’s Gardens personnel will be on hand to answer your questions. We will also be conducting a free raffle.

    And Snacks!

Tasty snacks from Tastes Like Love will be on hand for your nibbling pleasure. We look forward to seeing you in the garden!
